India, Aug. 22 -- Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged gangrape and murder of a Dalit woman in Hokrani village of Karnataka's Raichur district, media reports said.

Superintendent of Police Arunangshu Giri confirmed the arrests, stating that all four suspects are currently being interrogated, The Hindu reported.

According to the police complaint, the woman was allegedly kidnapped, raped and murdered by four individuals before her body was dumped in an open well on August 19.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with several Dalit organisations demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged crime.
