India, April 7 -- Donald Trump has warned of decisive military action against Iran if Tehran fails to reach an agreement before a deadline tied to reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Trump said, according to CNN, that the United States could "take out" Iran in a single night.

"The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night," he said.

Trump has reportedly set a deadline of Tuesday, 8 pm (Eastern Time) for Iran to accept the proposed deal.

Meanwhile, Iran has rejected a US-backed ceasefire proposal, instead submitting a detailed 10-point response through Islamic Republic News Agency.

Iran conveyed its position to Washington via Pakistan on Monday.
