India, May 31 -- For generations, Canadians relied on Canada Post to deliver everything from letters and bills to parcels across one of the world's largest countries. Today, however, the state-owned postal operator is confronting a stark reality: fewer letters, fiercer competition and mounting financial losses.

Canada Post in a statement on Friday reported a loss before tax of C$205 million in the first quarter of 2026, nearly five times larger than the C$41 million loss recorded a year earlier, as revenue and volumes declined across all major business lines.
