New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday said the government has given its nod to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for setting up a greenfield airport at Kota-Bundi in Rajasthan, entailing an investment of Rs 1,507 crore.

The facility will be able to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually.

The new site is about 23 km away from the current facility.

The government release said Kota's role in both education and industry makes the greenfield airport a vital infrastructure project, designed to meet the region's growing traffic demand.
