India, Aug. 17 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday announced a major organisational reshuffle, replacing its long-serving IT cell chief Amit Malviya with Chhattisgarh leader Deepak Mhaskey.

Malviya has served as the BJP's national IT cell chief for more than a decade and has played a key role in shaping the party's digital communication strategy.

He was also in charge of West Bengal, where the BJP registered a significant victory in the Assembly elections, forming the government in the state for the first time and ending the Trinamool Congress' 15-year rule.

The BJP appointed Deepak Mhaskey as the new convenor of its Social Media Department, replacing Malviya in the role.
