Kolkata/IBNS, Aug. 5 -- The new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal is stepping up efforts to improve women's safety on public transport by installing CCTV cameras in state-run buses.

West Bengal Transport Minister Arjun Singh on Wednesday said all upcoming state-run buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras as a major step towards ensuring women's safety.

The government has already rolled out extended night bus services for late-night commuters, patients and their families.
