Bengaluru couple swims from Sri Lanka to India via Ram Setu route in 11 hours, creates history
India, May 12 -- In a remarkable endurance feat, Bengaluru-based IT professionals Danish Abdi and Vrushali Prasade have become the first couple to complete a side-by-side open-water swim from Sri Lanka to India, crossing the Palk Strait via the historic Ram Setu route.
The duo completed the challenging expedition on May 7, swimming nearly 32 kilometres from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu in 10 hours and 45 minutes.
Battle against waves and strong currents
Videos from the expedition showed the couple navigating rough seas, shifting winds, and powerful ocean currents that repeatedly pushed them off course during the long swim.
