Bangladesh set to receive 200 Indian Rail coaches: Reports
India, July 20 -- The export of 200 broad-gauge railway coaches from India to Bangladesh is expected to begin later this month or in early August, according to media reports.
As per an NDTV report, the deliveries are scheduled to be completed by December 2027 under a Rs 915 crore contract.
The project, financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), aims to add 200 new broad-gauge coaches to the ageing Bangladesh Railway fleet between June 2026 and December 2027.
Sources in Bangladesh told NDTV that discussions are expected to begin in September on resuming the Maitree Express, the cross-border train service connecting Kolkata and Dhaka.
