India, Aug. 15 -- Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is likely to visit India next week, media reports said on Saturday.

Sources told NDTV that Rahman may visit India in the second half of next week, with preparations reportedly underway in both capitals for the proposed trip.

If the visit goes ahead as planned, it would be Rahman's first official trip to India since he became Prime Minister earlier this year following the Bangladesh Nationalist Party's (BNP) landmark victory in the parliamentary elections.

The two-day visit is being planned as a bilateral engagement, although details, including the schedule, are still being worked out, people familiar with the discussions told NDTV.
