India, April 9 -- Polling across Assam, Kerala and Puducherry witnessed steady momentum on Thursday, with official data showing robust voter participation by the evening.
By 6 pm, Puducherry recorded the highest turnout at 89.08 percent, followed closely by Assam at 85.04 percent, while Kerala registered 77.38 percent.
In Assam, voting was conducted across all 126 Assembly constituencies, with turnout reaching 85.04 percent by 6 pm.
This figure has already exceeded the 82.04 percent polling recorded during the 2021 Assembly elections.
The state is witnessing a closely contested election, with the BJP-led NDA seeking a third consecutive term, while the Congress is attempting to return to power after a decade.
