India, June 9 -- The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the first export consignment of Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged Tezpur Litchi from Assam to Dubai, marking a significant milestone in expanding global market access for agricultural products from India's North Eastern Region.

The one-metric-tonne shipment, dispatched on June 7, featured the renowned Tezpur Litchi, one of Assam's most celebrated horticultural products. The fruit is widely known for its exceptional sweetness, bright-red colour, distinctive aroma and superior eating quality.
