India, Oct. 1 -- Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has stepped down as Punjab Congress president, with the party expected to name his successor within the next 24-48 hours as it seeks to settle months of factional tensions ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Warring steps down after months of infighting
Warring, who has served as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief since April 2022, resigned on Wednesday as the Congress looks to reorganise its state unit ahead of the elections.
The move follows months of internal differences involving rival camps within the Punjab Congress.
