Muscat, June 14 -- All 14 Indian crew members aboard an Indian-flagged mechanised sailing vessel that suffered an engine failure off the coast of Oman have been rescued, the Indian Embassy in Muscat said on Sunday.

The vessel, MSC Virat 1, encountered difficulties at sea after experiencing an engine failure, prompting a search-and-rescue operation coordinated by Omani authorities and nearby vessels, the embassy said.

Earlier, the embassy said all 14 crew members had safely transferred to a liferaft after the vessel lost power.

It later confirmed that the vessel had suffered an engine failure and that the crew had abandoned the vessel for a liferaft while awaiting assistance.
