India, Aug. 5 -- Air India on Wednesday appointed veteran aviation executive Tewolde Gebremariam as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), succeeding Campbell Wilson, who stepped down earlier this year.

Announcing the appointment, the Tata-owned airline said Gebremariam's leadership marks "a pivotal juncture" in Air India's transformation into a world-class global carrier.
