India, July 28 -- An Indian software engineer has sparked an online debate after revealing that he and his wife earn a combined Rs. 5 lakh per month but still fear their careers could become obsolete in the coming years due to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI).

Posting on Reddit, the techie said the couple work remotely from a small Indian town but do not consider themselves "rich yet."

Describing their financial position as "cash-flow rich but asset-poor," the user shared details of their investments and savings.

"We have Rs. 15 lakh worth of gold coins, Rs. 7 lakh worth of US stocks and Rs. 3 lakh in fixed deposits. No loans, parents' home, own car," the Redditor wrote.
