India, Oct. 16 -- Ahmedabad has been recommended as the proposed host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games by the Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport, marking a major step toward bringing the multi-sport event back to India after two decades.
A final decision on the hosting rights will be made on November 26, at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow, after the proposal is presented to the full membership for approval.
If confirmed, Ahmedabad would become the second Indian city to host the Games, following New Delhi's 2010 edition, and further strengthen India's bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games, also proposed to be held in Ahmedabad.
