Mumbai/IBNS, Aug. 25 -- Indian fantasy sports platform Dream11 has quit as the sponsor of the Indian cricket team after the Indian parliament passed a law banning real money-based online games, media reports said.
The Parliament last week passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the Indian cricket board will not enter into any partnership with such an organisation in future.
Dream11 will not be penalised for its decision to exit the contract as per a clause that states a company can pull out if its business is affected by a change in law introduced by the India government.
Founded in 2008, it is India's first unicorn (startup valued at over $1 billion) in the gaming sector.
