India, May 5 -- Vijay, chief of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for congratulating his party on its impressive debut in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections-an outcome that has disrupted the long-standing dominance of the DMK and AIADMK.

He added that his party would rise above political differences. "Transcending politics, we shall focus on the state's progress and the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu. We look forward to the Union Government's support in this endeavour," he said.
