New Delhi, Oct. 24 -- Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has issued a clarification after coming under fire for endorsing a Canadian vlogger's post that mocked Diwali and labelled Indians "brain dead."

Moitra said the endorsement was accidental and happened while she was travelling, adding that she had meant to agree with a different post.

The MP later explained that she had intended to respond to another clip and had not realised the mistake until later.

The clarification comes amid renewed references to Moitra's earlier remark describing Goddess Kali as a deity who accepts meat and alcohol-comments that had previously sparked controversy.
