New Delhi, Oct. 9 -- Afghanistan's UN-sanctioned Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi arrived in India on Wednesday for a week-long visit, marking the first official trip by a senior Taliban leader since the group seized power in 2021 after the withdrawal of US-led forces.
The visit comes at a significant time for regional diplomacy as New Delhi cautiously seeks to engage with the Taliban government while maintaining its stance of non-recognition.
