Cuttack/IBNS, March 16 -- At least 10 patients died and 11 staff members were injured after a fire broke out at a state-run hospital in Cuttack, Odisha, early Monday morning, media reports said.

Multiple fire engines were rushed to the hospital, one of the largest government medical facilities in the state, as rescue and evacuation operations were launched.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi visited the hospital to assess the situation and said he had directed the administration to provide all necessary assistance to those affected.

A judicial probe has been ordered into the incident.

Majhi also announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the families of the deceased.
