India, April 14 -- At least 10 people were killed and over 40 others injured in a massive explosion at a power plant in Chhattisgarh's Sakti district on Tuesday, police said, adding that several workers are feared trapped at the site, media reports said.

According to preliminary information, the blast occurred in a boiler tube at a plant operated by Vedanta Limited in Singhitarai village during the afternoon.

Rescue operations underway

Local administration and police teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident and launched rescue operations.

The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
