Kolkata/IBNS, Oct. 17 -- Shekhar Debnath, the father of the RG Kar rape-murder victim, has threatened to launch a fresh protest after former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital principal Sandip Ghosh was granted bail in a case related to alleged financial irregularities at the state-run institution, media reports said.

Expressing disappointment over Ghosh's bail, Debnath said he was prepared to protest against the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government if necessary to secure justice for his daughter.

His remarks come as his wife, Ratna Debnath, the mother of the RG Kar victim, is now a BJP MLA representing Panihati.

The Supreme Court on Friday set aside the Calcutta High Court's February 23 order rejecting Ghosh's bail plea. ...
