Chennai/IBNS, Aug. 18 -- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and actor Trisha Krishnan saluting each other during the state's 80th Independence Day celebrations has triggered a political controversy, with the principal Opposition DMK criticising the episode as a compromise of the dignity of the Chief Minister's office, media reports said.

The exchange between Vijay, who is serving his first term as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, and Trisha, who was seated in the front row during the ceremony, has drawn sharp reactions from the DMK.
