Kolkata/IBNS, May 5 -- The RG Kar rape-victim's mother Ratna Debnath, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party to seek justice for her daughter, has won by over 28,000 votes from the Panihati constituency amid the saffron wave in West Bengal.

Debnath defeated her nearest rival Tirthankar Ghosh of the Trinamool Congress by 28,836 votes as the BJP ousted the Mamata Banerjee government in a landslide victory.
