India, July 19 -- Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday threw down the gauntlet to dissident leaders who have broken away from the Mamata Banerjee-led faction, declaring that he would resign from his party post within an hour if they returned to the TMC.

His remarks come as the party grapples with an unprecedented internal revolt following its crushing defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, with defections weakening Mamata Banerjee's grip over the organisation and significantly reducing the party's strength in Parliament.
