New Delhi, Oct. 11 -- US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday, where the two discussed a broad range of bilateral issues, including defence, trade, and technology.

Gor presented the Prime Minister with a signed photograph of himself with US President Donald Trump at the White House, bearing the handwritten note, "Mr Prime Minister, you are great."

The meeting came amid turbulence in New Delhi-Washington relations following the US decision to impose 50 percent tariffs on Indian exports. Prime Minister Modi expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral ties under the new envoy's tenure.
