India, Oct. 24 -- US First Lady Melania Trump has announced that she secured a temporary ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in the embattled Ukrainian city of Oleshky, with the agreement scheduled to take effect on October 29, 2026.

The proposed pause in hostilities aims to enable humanitarian aid deliveries to the city and facilitate the evacuation of civilians through a designated safe passageway.

Melania said the arrangement followed direct engagement with Russian and Ukrainian leadership, with teams from both countries working to establish the terms and practical arrangements.

She added that the remaining residents were predominantly elderly people in urgent need of medical care, medicines, food and clean water.
