London/IBNS, June 22 -- Keir Starmer announced on Monday that he will step down as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure amid mounting unrest within the Labour Party.

Speaking outside 10 Downing Street, Starmer said he had informed King Charles III of his decision earlier in the day and would remain in office until Labour elects a new leader.
