India, Oct. 30 -- Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer on Thursday said he is "currently in recovery process" in his first message since suffering a major injury in his rib cage during a recent ODI series in Australia.

Iyer sustained an impact injury to his left lower rib cage region while fielding during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney last week.

He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Scans have revealed a laceration injury to the spleen.

In a statement, the Indian cricket board BCCI said, "The injury was promptly identified, and the bleeding was immediately arrested. His condition is now stable, and he continues to be under observation.
