India, Oct. 25 -- The Maharashtra Police on Saturday said the woman doctor who died by suicide and alleged to have been raped by a cop could have been saved had action been taken on time or if she had spoken out, media reports said.
In a suicide note written on her palm in Marathi, the deceased alleged she was raped four times by Phaltan City Police Station sub-inspector (PSI) Gopal Badane, who was suspended in the wake of the incident.
In the same note, she accused Prashant Bankar, the son of the deceased's landlord, of physically and mentally harassing her for five months.
While Bankar has been arrested, Badane is still at large. A search operation to arrest Badane is underway.
