New Delhi, Oct. 16 -- India's consistent priority is to protect the interests of its people in an unstable energy scenario, and the country's trade policy follows this objective, New Delhi has said in response to US President Donald Trump's claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured him that India would stop procuring oil from Russia.
The statement follows Trump's claim that PM Modi has assured him India would stop importing Russian oil.
"He's assured me there will be no oil purchases from Russia. He can't do it immediately. It's a little bit of a process, but the process is going to be over soon," he said.
The US and Europe have repeatedly accused India of financing the Ukraine War in favour of Russia.
