India, Sept. 29 -- In a bid to better monetise its presence in India, streaming giant YouTube has introduced a cheaper version of its subscription plan.

Priced at INR 89 per month, YouTube Premium Lite will offer users ad-free access to a wide range of content across devices including smartphones, laptops, and smart TVs. However,ads would still appear for Lite users while scrolling through YouTube Shorts.

In a blog post today, the company has been testing Premium Lite to ensure the right balance of features and benefits under the plan. The rollout of the subscription plan is currently underway, with full availability expected across the country in the coming weeks.
