India, May 27 -- Mahendra Singh Dhoni-backed electric bicycle (e-bike) startup EMotorad has roped in former CARS24 India CEO Himanshu Ratnoo as a cofounder.

His appointment comes as EMotorad looks to strengthen its senior leadership team, expand its global footprint and enter new mobility categories. Speaking on the development, EMotorad cofounder Rajib Gangopadhyay said that Ratnoo's experience in scaling consumer businesses will help the startup in its next phase of growth.

Chiming in, EMotorad cofounder and CEO Kunal Gupta said the company now wants to build a "global electric mobility brand" from India. He claimed the startup continues to lead the domestic electric cycle market and is seeing strong demand overseas.
