PATNA, July 3 -- Gaya police on Thursday arrested a 19-year-old man from Phulwarisharif police station area in Patna in connection with the alleged sexual assault and blackmailing of around half a dozen girls under Banke Bazar police station in Gaya district and for circulating their objectionable videos on social media platforms. Police said that the incident came to light when a survivor's brother saw a clipping of his sister during a function in Gaya. "Some friends showed me a clip in which I saw that a man was exploiting girls, and one of them was my 15-year-old sister. However, my sister did not disclose anything. The accused Mohammed Rehan Ansari also blackmailed my sister. We demand stringent punishment for him," he told police. Sherghati SDPO-1 Sandeep Kumar said that the Gaya police arrested Rehan from Patna and is being brought to Gaya for further interrogation. "The accused was preparing to flee to another city, but a special team arrested him based on technical evidence and location tracking," he said. A police officer added that the accused Rehan would be interrogated to know how the alleged videos were created and how he circulated them on social media and whether any other individuals were involved. On the other hand, an FIR had earlier been lodged with Banke Bazaar police station under various sections of BNS and Pocso Act against the accused. Soon after the incident came to light, widespread public outrage erupted in Banke Bazaar and local traders closed the market demanding the man's arrest....
