Will not compromise with crime, corruption & communalism: Nishant
BETTIAH, May 5 -- Positioning himself in line with his father, former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, JD(U) leader Nishant Kumar on Monday asserted that his approach to governance would mirror the same firmness and carry forward a "zero-tolerance" stance on crime, corruption and communalism in the state.
Speaking at a Sanyukt Sambad Kaaryakram (joint dialogue) addressing party workers from Bagaha and West Champaran divisions at an auditorium in Bettiah, district headquarters of West Champaran, the JD(U) leader said that he is as resolute as his father.
"My father has never compromised with crime, corruption and communalism. I too will never compromise with them, come what may," said Nishant who joined the party last month, vouching full support for the Samrat Choudhary-led government. "We are hopeful that Samrat Choudhary would continue to carry forward my father's development work," he added.
He appeared enthused while interacting with party workers on the second day of his ongoing "Sadbhav Yatra" and sought to soothe the frayed nerves among them.
"We need to accept the fact that my father has moved to the Rajya Sabha after relinquishing the post of chief minister. I know you all are saddened by this decision, but we will continue to work under his active guidance," said the JD(U) leader, appealing to the party workers to repose faith in him and extend the same affection they have shown his father.
On their part, the party workers expressed their gratitude for Nitish and vowed to pitch in their support to Nishant....
