PURNEA, June 1 -- In his first visit to Bhagalpur after becoming the chief minister, Samrat Choudhary on Sunday inspected ongoing repair work at Vikramshila Setu where part of the structure collapsed into the Ganga river and announced that the bridge will be functional till November 30. "The government is committed to complete the restoration work in the Vikramshila Setu by November 30," the CM said in a press release issued on Sunday. He added that till then no private vehicles would be charged any fare to cross the river via steamer transport. Choudhary directed officials to resolve issues concerning the construction of the proposed Bhagalpur Ganga Path project and Munger Ganga Path project. The projects are being executed in partnership with Adani Road Transport, aimed at reducing travel time and boosting tourism. He held review meetings with district officials regarding welfare schemes and launched developmental projects. He launched 84 development projects worth Rs.203 crores in Bhagalpur and inaugurated 69 projects while virtually laying the foundation stone of 15 projects at the collectorate . Choudhary also attended a local BJP training camp during his visit. The district administration placed the city on high alert with a "no-drone" fly zone implemented over the event areas.
