Two missing after boat capsizes in Vaishali
PATNA, Sept. 9 -- Two people are missing and nine others were rescued after a boat capsized in the Ganga near Terasia Diara in Vaishali district on Tuesday, officials said.
According to locals, more than a dozen people were on board, and some were rescued by local divers. An SDRF rescue operation is currently underway, officials said.
Vaishali DM Varsha Singh stated that a boat carrying 11 people, en route from Raghopur to Digha, capsized near pillar number 10 of the Mahatma Gandhi Setu. The boat became uncontrollable after getting stuck in the strong current near the bridge, officials said.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the district administration and an SDRF team reached the spot and launched a search operation to locate the two missing individuals, Deepak Kumar and Chandan Kumar.
Sunil Raj, a resident of Terasia village, said, "The boat was passing through the Terasia and hit a boulder (which was not visible in the water) near pillar number-10. After the collision, the boat went out of control and plunged into the river."...
