Three cops injured in an attack on raiding police team in Jamui; 5 arrested
JAMUI, April 21 -- Three police personnel, including two sub-inspectors and a constable, were injured in a violent mob attack during a raid to arrest a notorious criminal wanted in several cases in Jamui district of Bihar on Monday.
Police officers said the police team was attacked with stones and conventional weapons. The injured police officers are undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Meanwhile, the police arrested five persons, including Dhebu Yadav who is wanted in several criminal cases involving murder, robbery and kidnapping.
The injured police personnel have been identified as Sunil Kumar Sah and Vikram Kumar (both sub-inspectors) and Constable Ranweer Kumar all posted at the town police station. Their condition is stated to be out of danger.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Satish Suman confirmed the incident, stating, "A police team had gone to Khairma to arrest a hardened criminal named Dhebu Yadav who has been absconding for a long time. The team was returning after arresting him when his henchmen attacked them with bricks and stones, injuring three policemen."
He added that the police arrested five persons for the assault.
A case has been lodged against several persons, both named and unidentified including Dhebu Yadav, under the sections 132 (assault with criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of duty), 121 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from discharging duty) and other relevant sections of BNS (Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita)....
