PURNEA, July 23 -- The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) tender worth Rs.294.05 crore to construct permanent Civil Enclave at Purnea Airport. The interim terminal of the Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 15, 2025. Taking to X, Bihar chief minister expressed gratitude towards PM for gifting historic air connectivity to millions of people in Seemanchal and North-East Bihar. "Today the successful operation of 10 daily flights from Purnea is a testament to the project's success and the region's growing demand for air travel." He further wrote "Now the AAI has issued an EPC tender for the construction of the permanent civil enclave at Purnea Airport at an estimated cost of Rs.294.05 crore." This project will include the construction of a state- of- the- art terminal building, airport infrastructure and allied external development works, he said, hoping "The permanent civil enclave will give a new impetus to tourism, trade, investment and employment in Seemanchal, further strengthening regional air connectivity and the coordinated efforts of the Government of Bihar and the Government of India are infusing new energy into the resolve for a developed Bihar."
