DARBHANGA, Sept. 25 -- A tempo driver was killed after being run over by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) engaged in the construction of an elevated road near Benta police station here on Thursday, police said. The deceased was identified as Shyam Paswan, a resident of Allalpatti under Benta police station. He was the son of Raj Kumar Paswan. According to family members, Paswan had parked his tempo and was walking home when the construction vehicle hit him. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the emergency department of Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead. Family members said Paswan was the sole earning member of his family and supported them by driving a tempo. The accident triggered concern among local residents over safety arrangements at the elevated road construction site.
