PATNA, Sept. 27 -- Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, sought to placate his elder sister Rohini Acharya by praising her for donating a kidney to their ailing father and RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav, aiming to nip the "festering feud" in the bud within the family. Tejashwi's close aide, Sanjay Yadav - also said to be behind the rift between him and Acharya - on Friday issued a statement denying any strain among the Yadav family members. However, the feud's other front -- that of Lalu's elder son, 36-year-old Tej Pratap Yadav -- remains open. On Friday, he launched his party Janshakti Janata Dal to contest the upcoming Bihar elections on the election symbol of blackboard. For Tej, his father's RJD is among rivals, and perhaps in certain pockets, its main rival. Because of Tej's political overtures and tough posturing towards some of RJD leaders who he describes as Jaichands (betrayers), a sense of discomfort could be felt by the party. As embers flared and the party sniffed repercussions of Yadav kin's fight, Lalu probably tried to placate his children and as a result, Tejashwi heaped praise on his sister Rohini for donating one of her kidneys to their father. he also asserted that the family and party is united and steadfast. He accused the BJP of indulging in cheap politics by having made cryptic comments when Acharya had fought the Saran parliamentary polls. "My elder sister Rohini has raised me and always supported me. She has never had any desires for ticket or any party position and had selflessly donated her kidney to our father, making an exemplary move. In today's times, it is rare that one's own family members donate a kidney to ailing members," Yadav said. Referring to Acharya's contesting unsuccessfully from the Saran parliamentary seat in 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the 35- year-old Yadav scion said that RJD chief had given ticket to his elder sister as per the wishes of the people of Saran. "My sister never sought a ticket. The ticket from Saran was given as per the wish of the people of the constituency as it's a traditional seat of RJD chief. That time, deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary had made a statement that Laluji had given a ticket to his daughter in exchange for a kidney. This is the mentality of the BJP. They talk about respecting daughters and mothers but have no respect for the emotions and bonding between a father and daughter. We never do such cheap politics," Tejashwi said. The former deputy chief minister of the state also said the trolling of her sister on social media platforms was unfortunate and averred that there are certain people who have this habit of trolling celebrities on social media platforms. Tejashwi's RJD colleague, Sanjay Yadav, was also forthright in rubbishing reports of "rift" in the RJD or Yadav family. "There is no rift in the RJD's first family. Whatever Rohini Didi has said, we have understood. But the media has put it in a different perspective, We are all united and want to oust the Nitish Kumar led government. The BJP is scared ahead of the polls and giving wind to such speculations," Yadav said. The fresh feud got triggered a week back when second daughter Rohini, a doctor turned politician, red flagged Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav for sitting on the front seat of the custom made bus used by the 35-year-old Opposition leader during his Bihar Adhikar Yatra....
