PATNA, Sept. 27 -- Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Tej Pratap Yadav, eldest son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and former minister, announced on Friday that his party, Janshakti Janata Dal, will contest the upcoming polls using the blackboard as its election symbol. The launch of the party was first announced on September 13. Expelled from the RJD for six years on May 25 for "irresponsible behaviour" and violation of family values, Tej Pratap shared the party's poster on his official X handle, stating: "We are fully dedicated and ready for the overall development of Bihar. Our aim is to create a new system by making a complete change in Bihar. We are ready to fight a long battle for the overall development of Bihar." The party poster features five prominent leaders-Mahatma Gandhi, BR Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia, Jayaprakash Narayan, and Karpoori Thakur-with a yellow and green backdrop carrying the message: "Janshakti Janata Dal: social justice - social rights - complete change. The power of the people, the rule of the people - Tej Pratap will ensure Bihar's development." Notably, Tej Pratap did not include pictures of his father Lalu Prasad or mother Rabri Devi. Tej Pratap reiterated his goal of transforming Bihar and creating a new political system during an address to supporters. In August, he had claimed to have formed a coalition of five smaller parties under his leadership. Since his expulsion, there has been much speculation about Tej Pratap's political future.
