Suvendu PA's murder: CBI takes remand of prisoner at Buxar jail
PATNA, May 23 -- The central bureau of investigation (CBI) probing the murder of West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari's personal assistant Chandranath Rath, took 10-day remand of an under trial prisoner of Buxar Central Jail, on Friday.
Sanjai Rai, a resident of Zamania (Dildarnagar) in Uttar Pradesh, was lodged in Buxar Central Jail after his arrest was made by Rajpur police for possession of liquor. Assistant jail superintendent Raghavendra Pratap Singh said, "A CBI team from Delhi took him on remand following court's orders. We have received information that the case is linked to murder case of Suvendu Adhikari's PA."
Rajpur SHO Nivas Kumar said Rai was arrested on May 11 from Shayar Ghat on the Buxar-UP border while carrying five litres IMFL and was sent to judicial custody. "It was a routine checking and frisking of people coming from UP. No criminal case has been registered against Rai in Buxar," he added.

Earlier on Wednesday and Thursday, CBI arrested two persons including Navin Kumar Singh, a resident of the Zamani area under Fefna police station limits in Ballia district and Vinay alias Pumpum of Gazipur district. Before the investigation was handed over to CBI, the STF of the West Bengal Police with the help of Bihar STF arrested two accused, Mayank Mishra and Vicky Maurya from Buxar, and later one Raj Singh from UP's Ayodhya.
Rath, a former Indian Air Force personnel, was shot dead on May 6 in Madhyamgram in the North 24 Parganas district. The murder took place within 48 hours of the declaration of the West Bengal Assembly election results, triggering political and security concerns. The case was initially investigated by the West Bengal Police SIT before being transferred to the CBI owing to the sensitivity and seriousness of the crime. The agency is continuing its investigation into the case....
