PATNA, Oct. 8 -- Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday said India had made significant progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was steadily moving towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. He said Bihar, too, must contribute to this transformation by becoming prosperous, strong and self-reliant. Addressing a "Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha" at the Miller High School ground in Patna, Choudhary said the country had witnessed a transformation in development and welfare delivery under Modi's leadership. The event, organised to mark Modi completing 25 years in public life, was also addressed virtually by the Prime Minister and BJP national president Nitin Nabin, said a statement issued by the BJP. Choudhary highlighted several welfare initiatives, saying around 89 lakh farmers in Bihar were receiving benefits under the PM-Kisan scheme, while 1.81 crore Jeevika women were receiving money directly in their bank accounts. He said around 50 lakh women had become Lakhpati Didis, with the state aiming to add another one lakh by 2030. He also cited the PM Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal and PM Surya Ghar schemes as examples of the Centre's development and welfare push. BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi said the party's message was centred on "nation first, service first and society first". He described the Seva Jyoti initiative as a symbol of the BJP's commitment to building a developed India by 2047 and a self-reliant Bihar, the statement said. After the programme, a Seva Jyoti Yatra was taken out from Seva Jyoti Chowk, the renamed Mithapur bridge, and passed through the planetarium, Hartali Mor, Gandhi Maidan, ISKCON Temple and R-Block.
