STF nabs six for theft of goods from delivery vehicles in patna
PATNA, Aug. 22 -- The Special Task Force (STF) and local police on Friday arrested six members of a gang for their alleged involvement in the theft of Flipkart delivery vehicles from Naubatpur area under the same police station in Patna, and recovered stolen mobiles, a car and one laptop from their possession.
A police officer said that a joint team of STF and local police arrested six criminals who were stealing goods from flipkart delivery vehicles. The six members of a gang were arrested after being tipped off. During interrogation, the arrested told the police that they contacted delivery drivers, would stop the vans in isolated areas and steal expensive mobile phones and laptops from there. The police exposed a major racket of stealing goods from e-commerce companies with their arrest, the officer added.
He said that the gang's modus operandi was extremely cunning. "The arrested criminals pre-arranged with the flipkart delivery drivers. "They would then stop the delivery vehicle at a secluded location along the route. There, they would steal the expensive electronics stored inside the van. The main targets were high-end smartphones and laptops, so that they could be sold at a good price in the market," he said.
Police said that six accused were arrested at the crime scene during a raid under Naubatpur police station area. On the basis of the statement of arrested accused, the police recovered a total of 13 stolen mobile phones, a laptop and a car used in the crime were also seized. All of the arrested accused are residents of Patna, Nalanda, and Jehanabad districts, where this racket has deep roots.
