PATNA, July 5 -- Around over half dozen people were injured in a bloody clash on Saturday noon that involved firing and fighting between two groups allegedly over supremacy in illegal sand mining and smuggling in Bihar's Jehanabad district. The five injured are being treated at Sadar hospital while two referred to PMCH in critical condition. An attempt was also made to give a caste conflict colour to the entire incident. Policemen from the separate police stations were camping at the scene of the clash. According to the locals, a group of villagers were protesting against illegal mining by a gang for the past few months in the Ghonsi police station area. On Saturday, about 20 gang members entered the area and started firing at the locals. The locals also retaliated. The clash continued for about half an hour. The incident took place in Chaiti-Peepar village of Ghonsi police station area. In this incident, Ajay Ram, Dinesh Ram, Sudhir Ram, Vijay Ram from one side while Vishnu Kumar, a resident of Ginji village and Sudhir Sharma, a resident of Rampur village, are said to be injured....
