PATNA, Sept. 29 -- The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) sleuths on Monday raided four locations, including Patna and Begusarai, in connection with a disproportionate assets case against Patna additional district magistrate (Supply) Ravindra Kumar Diwakar and his wife, Kumari Sweety, a sub-registrar in Danapur. The VIB seized around Rs.70 lakh in cash and 48 watches worth Rs.6 lakh during the searches. During the searches, the VIB found two flats in Kashyap Green Homes in Danapur, purchased in February 2026, and 3.9 decimal plots each in Phulwarisharif, purchased on December 18, 2021. It also found 20 decimals of land in Ballia, purchased on July 10, 2020, besides 3.9 decimals and four decimals of land purchased in the name of Diwakar's father, Lakhan Lal Paswan, on August 31, 2022, and July 19, 2017, respectively. In Begusarai, the VIB seized Rs.9 lakh in cash. According to VIB director general Jitendra Singh Gangwar, Ravindra joined government service as a teacher in 2000. In 2009, he joined as district public relations officer (DPRO) in Saran and subsequently served as senior deputy collector in Katihar, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Gaya and Patna between 2011 and 2024. He joined as ADM (Supply) at the Patna collectorate in October 2025. His wife, a 2013-batch Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) officer, served as sub-registrar in Teghra from 2013 to 2017, Haveli Kharagpur from 2017 to 2021, Sakra from 2021 to 2024 and Danapur from 2024 onwards. The searches were carried out at residences in Patna and Begusarai. According to the VIB, several important documents and papers related to the properties came to light during the searches. The team is examining these documents and other material. The action has been taken to ascertain the status of the properties vis-a-vis the officials' known sources of income. Documents related to property, banking and investments are being examined as part of the ongoing search operation. The cash, watches and documents recovered by the VIB sleuths will be matched with the declared income and assets of the officials concerned. The search operation is currently underway.
