Rs.25.65-cr distributed to kin of 36 deceased cops
PATNA, Dec. 21 -- Deputy chief minister, who also holding the portfolio of minister in-charge of home, Samrat Choudhary distributed Rs.25.65 crore to the 36 families of deceased police personnel under the police salary package, said an official of Bank of Baroda (BoB) on Saturday.
The official, familiar with the matter told HT that a ceremony held at the auditorium of Sardar Patel Bhawan where senior officials of the Police Headquarters and Home Departments were present, including ACS (home) Arvind Kumar Choudhary, DGP Vinay Kumar, ADG (headquarters) Kundan Krishnan, and ADG (Budget) Kamal Kishore Singh. Representing BoB General Manager, Nalin Kumar, DGM & Regional Head, Rakesh Ranjan Singh, DGM & Business Head, Priya Ranjan , DGM & Compliance Assurance, DGM- Defence Banking Deepak kumar along with other senior officials, attended the ceremony.
With this distribution, the total number of beneficiary families under the Police Salary Package has reached 90, and the cumulative amount disbursed so far stands at Rs.42.45 crore. During function families of 12 police personnel who died in accidents received insurance benefits ranging from Rs.1.7 crore to Rs.2.0 crore per family, while families of 24 personnel who died due to natural causes or illness received Rs.20 lakh each. The beneficiaries also included the families of two young female constables, aged 33 and 34.
The Bihar Police had signed a special Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BoB on August 23, 2024, under which police salaries are being disbursed through the bank. The posthumous insurance cover is provided free of cost as part of the salary package and is in addition to departmental benefits.
Samrat while addressing the function lauded BoB for extending timely financial support to the families of deceased police personnel. Subrat Kumar Swain reaffirmed the bank's commitment to continue such welfare initiatives for police personnel and Bihar government employees, stating that Bank of Baroda remains dedicated to serving the state with integrity and responsibility....
