SASARAM, Oct. 22 -- The arrest of the RJD candidate from Sasaram, Satyendra Sah, after filing nomination papers on Monday, has raised a political storm with the Opposition questioning the timing and motive of arrest. Monday was the last day to file the nomination papers for the second and last phase of polling, scheduled on November 11. Superintendent of Police (SP) Raushan Kumar said that Sah was an accused in a dacoity case in Garhwa district of Jharkhand. Sah, a resident of Balapur village under Kargahar police station of the district, was wanted in Garhwa police station case no. 320/2004 registered under sections 395/397 and 120 (B) of Indian Penal Code, in the year 2004. Sections 395 and 397 IPC attract 10 years and 7 years of imprisonment respectively. A Garhwa court had issued a permanent warrant of arrest against him. He will be presented before the Garhwa court, the SP said. On the other hand, Garhwa SP Aman Kumar said, "Nothing has been done on our part. Permanent warrant (red warrant) was issued against him from court 15 years ago. It was sent to the police of that police station in which jurisdiction permanent residence of the accused is located as per rule. We were informed when the Bihar police reached closer to the border of Jharkhand. As the case in which the arrest took place is related to Garhwa, he was produced in Garhwa court and sent to jail on Monday night." The RJD candidate, Sah, accused his opponents for arrest in a fabricated case. He had participated in three Panchayati Raj and urban body elections after 2004 but the police never tried to arrest him, Sah said adding the people of Sasaram will give a befitting reply to the opponents. Earlier, three candidates, two from the CPI-ML and one independent, were arrested after filing their nomination papers for the first phase. The arrests were made in Gopalganj, Siwan and Vaishali districts, and were linked to old pending cases against them. Sitting MLA and CPI(ML) candidate from the Darauli (reserved) seat, Satyadev Ram, was arrested on Oct 14 in connection with a 2005 case....
